From Couch to the Finish Line
Back to BlogMar 3, 2026
Six months ago, I couldn’t run for more than two minutes without stopping. Last weekend, I crossed the finish line of my first 5K.
The Plan That Worked
I followed a simple structure:
- Run/walk intervals
- Three sessions per week
- Gradual increases in time, not speed
The biggest lesson? Consistency beats intensity.
Things That Helped
- Comfortable running shoes
- A playlist that kept me motivated
- Not comparing myself to others
There were days I didn’t want to run. On those days, I told myself I only had to run for 10 minutes. Most of the time, I kept going.
You don’t have to be fast. You just have to keep moving.
Crossing that finish line wasn’t about pace — it was about proving to myself that I could commit to something hard.
