Getting Your Steps In
Back to BlogDaily Movement
I am a huge proponent of getting my steps in. Every chance I get, I like to move my body and going on walks is one of my favorite ways of doing that. There are benefits to moving more throughout the day such as
- increased metabolism
- regulating blood sugar
- increasing calories burned
- improved mood
- mental clarity
Walking for at least 10 minutes before and after a meal is one of my daily habits I am trying to maintain. To reap the benefits above. If you are making excuses for not moving your body everyday, there are always solutions.
"The weather sucks" - Walk around your house, do squats or heel raises in the living room, or even just stretch while you listen to music.
"I don't have enough time" - Check your screen time. You can doom scroll while you walk, and you can satisfy your dopamine needs while burning some calories!
"I am at work all day" - Take an extra loop around the office while you are walking to the bathroom, or going on your lunch break. An extra 3-5 minutes here and there add up your steps!
Daily movement isn't an option for me. Being able to move my body is a gift in of itself, and I really don't want to take it for granted. I really encourage those who need motivation to keep moving to think of this as well and hope to inspire daily movement for you!
